Strategies for Monitoring Screen Time - What and How Much?

In its latest publication of screen time guidelines, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) advises families to consider that not all screen time is equal. New research is encouraging families to examine the quality of the time spent in front of devices. Are children passively consuming content or actively creating and problem-solving on their devices? Is screen time “alone time” or time to co-view, co-play or co-engage?

Bloomington Public Schools believes in the balanced use of technology in the classroom and beyond. At school, we support staff and student use of tools like Seesaw, Google for Education apps and Moodle to help students be active creators, collaborators and communicators.
